This is a writing morning (thank God), but I wanted to share an inspiring quote by Thor Heyerdahl.
For those who might not know, he was an explorer with a focus on ethnography and experimental archeology–trying to trace how things might have been done. To prove a point of his, he created a primitive raft and sailed 8,000 kilometers to show that migration on such a scale was possible even in ancient days.
When I was in Oslo this summer with family, we visited the museum built to showcase his expeditions, as well as a couple other fantastic nautical museums–after all, it’s the Norwegians who brought us the Vikings! And incidentally, it turns out that those Vikings were incredible wood carvers–true artists as well as artisans. But below–the Heyerdahl quote, from the side of the museum:
